Our university formally recognizes an independent student governing body, the University Central Student Government (UCSG). Acknowledging that students are central to the mission of higher education, the university, through the Office of Student Affairs, facilitates an annual election process for student councils at the department, college, and university levels. This process culminates in the election of UCSG representatives, who serve as the highest voice for the student body.
Upon election, student leaders are officially inducted by the Vice President for Student Affairs, acting on behalf of the Office of the University President. This induction is a formal recognition of the UCSG as an independent student union, entrusted with representing students’ perspectives and advocating for their interests. The inclusion of student representatives within the university’s leadership structure demonstrates the institution’s commitment to elevating the “student voice” and ensuring it is an integral part of governance and decision-making at the highest levels. Through UCSG, the university fosters an environment of collaboration, where students have a respected platform to participate actively in shaping the campus community.
