The Lyceum-Northwestern University ENER-HIYAS Program, in partnership with the College of Engineering, is an innovative community outreach initiative aimed at raising awareness about solar energy and climate change. Through this program, expert talks and educational sessions are conducted for the residents of the barangays in Dagupan City, with active collaboration from local government officials and officers.
The program seeks to empower local communities by providing valuable knowledge on the environmental challenges posed by climate change, as well as the potential of renewable energy, particularly solar power, to mitigate these issues. By bringing experts in the fields of solar energy and climate science to the grassroots level, the ENER-HIYAS Program helps residents better understand how they can contribute to sustainable development and make informed decisions about energy use and climate action.
Through these informative sessions, the program also fosters a stronger connection between academic institutions, local government officials, and community members, creating a collaborative platform for implementing sustainable practices and solutions at the local level. The goal is to build a more climate-resilient and environmentally-conscious community, equipped with the tools and knowledge to address climate change and promote a sustainable future.
