Monitoring the Health of Aquatic Ecosystems

Life Below Water

Lyceum-Northwestern University actively supports the monitoring and protection of aquatic ecosystems as part of its environmental sustainability commitments. Through its SDG Road Mapping Policy, the University undertakes initiatives that help assess the condition of nearby water bodies and coastal environments. This includes collaborating with accredited agencies, environmental partners, and local government units that conduct regular water quality assessments, marine conservation activities, and habitat monitoring in coastal and freshwater areas.

The University’s academic programs—particularly in the health sciences, marine-related studies, and environmental disciplines—engage students and faculty in research, fieldwork, and community-based monitoring efforts that document ecosystem health indicators such as water quality, biodiversity status, and pollution levels. These activities contribute to scientific data collection, support conservation planning, and enhance community awareness.

Through partnerships, research involvement, and sustainable environmental policies, L-NU plays a proactive role in monitoring, protecting, and enhancing the resilience of aquatic ecosystems in the region.
