Good Health and Well-Being
Project Title: Community Health Assessment and Public Health Campaigns like reducing maternal mortality,end preventable deaths of newborns and children by the Faculty and students of the College of Nursing at San Miguel Calasiao , Pangasinan.
The Community Health Assessment and Public Health Campaigns were conducted as part of the Lyceum Northwestern University’s commitment in promoting health awareness and wellness , disease prevention, restoration of health ,and alleviation of sufferings at the grassroots level.
These initiatives aimed to assess the community’s health conditions, identify prevalent diseases, and implement responsive health education activities. In line with Republic Act No. 11223 (Universal Health Care Act) and UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, the program empowered residents to take an active role in managing their health through education , preventive measures and implementation of the Primary Health Care.
Impact: The program produced significant positive outcomes at both the community and academic levels.
For the Community: Improved health awareness and active participation in disease prevention and healthy living practices. Residents were empowered to take responsibility for their own health and hygiene giving them a chance to fully implement the health programs.
For the University: Strengthened linkages with local health agencies and demonstrated commitment to community service and sustainable health development.
For Students and Faculty: Enhanced competencies in conducting community diagnoses, planning health programs, and implementing health promotion campaigns in real-world settings.
