Community Collaboration for Aquatic Ecosystem Conservation: TREE FOR THEE Mangrove Planting Project

Life Below Water

Lyceum‑Northwestern University actively collaborates with local communities through the TREE FOR THEE Program, led by L-NU  students pursuing Marine Courses in Salapingao and Calmay. The program’s Mangrove Planting Project engages community residents in hands-on restoration of vital mangrove ecosystems, fostering environmental stewardship and resilience in coastal areas. By combining educational outreach on sustainable practices with direct ecosystem restoration, the initiative advances Quality Education (SDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life Below Water (SDG 14), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). This collaborative effort demonstrates L‑NU’s commitment as an institution to maintain shared aquatic ecosystems while promoting community participation in long-term environmental sustainability.
