Preservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Lyceum-Northwestern University actively participates in projects aimed at recording and preserving intangible cultural heritage, including local folklore, traditions, language, and community knowledge. In collaboration with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan through the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS), the university hosted a 3-day Local History and Heritage Training Workshop at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen. The event engaged over 150 participants from various local government units (LGUs) and higher education institutions (HEIs) across Pangasinan. Through six focused lectures—covering sources on local history research, professionalizing heritage work, identifying and documenting historic sites, handling heritage issues, and local history planning—participants enhanced their capacity to safeguard and promote the province’s rich cultural legacy, including the heritage of displaced and marginalized communities.
