Reducing Waste, Promoting Responsibility: LNU’s Disposable Items Policy

Responsible Consumption and Production

Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU) has institutionalized the Minimisation of Disposable Items Policy through Executive Order No. 11 S. 2024, issued by University President Dr. Luz T. Duque-Hammershaimb. The policy actively reduces single-use plastics, disposable cups, plates, utensils, printed materials, and non-biodegradable promotional items across all university offices, programs, events, and campus vendors. Priority is given to eco-friendly, reusable, and digital alternatives, with a strong emphasis on awareness and compliance. Implementation is monitored by the Sustainability Office through compliance plans, awareness campaigns, and quarterly reporting. By embedding responsible consumption practices into operations, events, and procurement, L-NU demonstrates its leadership in environmental stewardship and commitment to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
