Emergency Food Support During Typhoons and Flooding
During typhoons and flooding, students living in boarding houses and apartments often face food insecurity due to the closure of food establishments, disrupted supply chains, and delays in receiving financial allowances. To address this, Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU) activates emergency food pantries to ensure that no student experiences hunger during these crisis situations.
These food pantries provide readily available meals and essential food items to students who are stranded in their residences and unable to access regular food sources. The initiative prioritizes vulnerable students and ensures that basic nutritional needs are met until conditions stabilize.
This program directly supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by reducing the immediate impact of economic and environmental shocks on students, safeguarding their well-being, and preventing hunger during emergencies.
