University Delivers Projects to Record and Preserve Intangible Cultural Heritage: Local Folklore, Traditions, Language, and Knowledge, Including the Heritage of Displaced Communities
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Our university actively engages in preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage through various initiatives under the Office of Student Affairs. One such initiative is the establishment of the “Florencia Folkloric Dance Group,” a dedicated organization that celebrates and preserves Filipino culture by showcasing traditional folk dances. The Florencia Folkloric Dance Group is designed to promote awareness of local folklore, traditions, and cultural heritage among students and the wider community. Through performances and workshops, the group educates audiences on regional and national cultural practices, helping to ensure that these valuable aspects of Filipino heritage are recognized and sustained.
The program not only enhances cultural pride but also provides a platform for students to connect with and express their cultural identities, especially those from displaced or underrepresented communities. In addition, the Office of Student Affairs regularly organizes cultural events, workshops, and presentations that highlight diverse aspects of Filipino intangible cultural heritage, including traditional music, language, and folklore. By doing so, the university fulfills its role as a custodian of cultural heritage, fostering an inclusive environment where the richness of local and national traditions is preserved and celebrated across generations.
