Reduced Inequalities

The Executive Order on Anti-Discrimination at Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU) is a pivotal step in fostering a community rooted in equality, inclusivity, and respect. By formalizing this Anti-Discrimination Policy, L-NU commits to providing an environment where every individual—students, faculty, and staff—is valued, protected from discrimination, and afforded equal opportunities to thrive, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, or religion. In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities, this policy underscores L-NU’s role in promoting social inclusion and fairness. SDG 10 calls for the empowerment of all people and the reduction of inequalities. L-NU supports this by implementing proactive measures, including awareness campaigns, training sessions, and clear, accessible reporting mechanisms to address and prevent discrimination.

The Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Office and the Human Resource Department (HRD) are key players in this initiative, tasked with enforcing the policy, providing support to those affected, and ensuring that any discrimination cases are handled swiftly and justly. Collaboration between SAS and HRD ensures a unified approach to inclusivity and diversity across the university. Through joint efforts, these departments share best practices, coordinate training, and support the community, fostering a cohesive atmosphere of respect. Additionally, the policy mandates an annual review to adapt and improve based on community feedback, ensuring its continued effectiveness and relevance. By embedding the principles of SDG 10 within its culture and operations, L-NU not only enhances the university experience but also contributes to a broader global movement for a fair and inclusive society. This policy reflects L-NU’s dedication to shaping a progressive, inclusive academic community that respects and celebrates diversity in all forms.
