University Provides Mentoring, Counselling, and Peer Support Programs for Students, Staff, and Faculty from Underrepresented Groups

Reduced Inequalities

Our university is committed to supporting students, staff, and faculty from underrepresented groups through structured mentoring, counselling, and peer support programs. Our Guidance and Counselling Department plays a central role in this effort, delivering specialized programs to address the unique needs of underrepresented individuals within our campus community.

One key initiative is the Annual Faculty-Guidance Facilitation Skills training. This training program equips faculty, staff, and students with essential facilitation and mentoring skills, fostering a supportive environment for all, including those from underrepresented groups. Through this initiative, participants learn foundational techniques for providing guidance and peer support, ensuring that everyone has access to resources and mentorship to succeed academically and personally.

In addition, the university promotes an inclusive culture by offering peer support groups and counselling sessions specifically designed to address challenges faced by underrepresented groups. These programs are an integral part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all members of our community feel supported and empowered.
