The first-ever Tanglaw Katarungan Forum at Lyceum-Northwestern University provided a neutral and inclusive platform for different political stakeholders to discuss critical issues, particularly around the 1987 Philippine Constitution and the importance of upholding the Rule of Law. With a warm welcome by EVP Dr. Marco S. Duque and messages from Senator Chiz Escudero, former Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, students had the unique opportunity to engage with prominent leaders who shared insights on justice, governance, and service. This forum facilitated a safe space for open dialogue, enabling students to deepen their understanding of the constitution, learn about the significance of a strong legal foundation, and gain encouragement to participate in governance with integrity.
Aligned with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), the Tanglaw Katarungan Forum empowered students by promoting inclusive dialogue on governance and legal principles. It fostered mutual respect and understanding by bridging students and leaders from diverse backgrounds, reinforcing L-NU’s commitment to impartial discourse. By creating a platform where young people could safely engage with leaders, the university advanced the goal of building peaceful and just institutions, inspiring students to become informed, civic-minded citizens ready to contribute to national progress and uphold justice.
